Latest Additions to My Armies
I just bought Gil-galad and Elrond, as well as a blister pack of Rangers of Ithilien to add to my forces. I believe I am going to turn my focus to Elven forces eventually (especially Wood-elves), once I have a good 100-200 points in each of the other armies. I also stocked up on the paints that are being discontinued.
Purple Door
Well I have returned from the deluge of Purple Door. I had a wonderful time, but the last act was canceled due to the combined might of Manwë and Ulmo, which unleashed a gigantic rainstorm, which forced all of us to scurry for our cars and called off the last act. I didn't get to see Blindside. Oh, darn...(The sarcasm in his voice is evident. Ed.) Saw a number of bands that i had never heard of before that were quite good (I guess that's the reason for going to Purple Door.). Among them; The Evan Anthem (who had a lead singer who looked like Kyle Novy), Anathello (very interesting mix of brass, percussion, and a few guitars, that was NOT ska), Holland, and Cool Hand Luke (the lead singer was the drummer, so you had a percussion-emphasized sound, with guitars backing it up, not leading it. Very cool.). Very impressed with Holland, and Cool Hand Luke especially. You could really tell that these guys loved God and that was why they were doing what they were doing. A stark contrast to mainstream Christian music. Five Iron Frenzy put on a good show, even though I'm not a huge fan of their music. relient K was entertaining as always, and I was so impressed with the way these guys refuse to take themselves serously. While their music isn't great or even very good, it's fun to listen to, and their lyrics reflect their laid back attitude. I bought an excellent book while I was there, "J.R.R. Tolkien: Myth, Morality, & Religion." I also met Jess, whose last name I don't know, and had a good time hanging out with her at the relient K show. Also hung out with Matt V. and Katie W., as well as, of course, Dave "The Belly" P. A great event! Looking forward to Purple D. 2004!
Welcome to the Halls of the Elvenking
Okay, here's my first entry on my first website. I'll be posting news here about me, in general. A semi-diary/news/rant/whatever else comes to my mind. It'll be primarily dedicated to my philosophy (cool quotes that I come across in my travels, as well as lousy quotes that I made up that sound cool), my love of J.R.R. Tolkien and his works, my love of the Games Workshop wargame based on his Lord of the Rings, my political musings and opinions, and just a mix of whatever, I'm in the mood to write about at the time.
So, for those of you who can't seem to get enough of my ranting and gabbing throughout the day, check back here to find out what irrelevant topic I'm discussing at the time. See you around!
